Pool Closing Due To Weather

The ASC will be closed this morning (and possibly into the afternoon) due to stormy weather; we will reopen when the weather is clear enough to allow safe swimming. Enjoy the rain!

Pump Problems

Unfortunately, our pump is having problems again ... This time the o-ring must be replaced - it has been ordered and should arrive on Thursday. Once replaced, we should be good to go again! The pool IS open, but the deep end is a bit murky (and therefore unsafe for swimmers as the guards cannot see into the water well) and closed temporarily; the shallow end is still open! We expect to be open 100% again later this week. Thanks!

Pool to Reopen This Afternoon

The pump part has arrived! The repair is being made, and the pool is expected to open by 4 PM this afternoon. The water MAY be a bit cloudy in the deep, and swimming could possibly be restricted to the shallower water temporarily, but the pool WILL reopen as soon as the pump is installed. Update on Pool Closing

The part needed to repair the pump is, according to UPS, IN ABILENE and scheduled for delivery today; as soon as it is delivered and installed, the ASC expects to open, hopefully later this afternoon. Continue to check the blog (and your inbox if you are on the ASC e-mail group) and we will update both as soon as the pool reopens! The Abilene Swim Club kicks off the 2009 swim season with our Annual Meeting TONIGHT at 6 PM at ASC! Your annual membership dues ($175) may be paid at the meeting. As always, though, there will be a drawing at the meeting for one member to receive their annual dues FREE - you must be present to win, so we'll see you tonight!

Vandalism at ASC

On Friday evening someone broke into the ASC through the gate (which has now been repaired and reinforced) and threw chairs, plants, trash cans, etc. into the pool. Frances thinks the plants in the pool may have contributed to the excessive algae buildup again. They are working hard today to clear the water once again, and Frances wants to thank our members for your patience as we deal with this new setback in keeping the the pool open for our members and friends to enjoy.

The pool is NOW OPEN again! The water is clear and the pH levels are back to normal. See you there! :)

Pool is CLOSED for the Day

The pool has been closed once again until the pH level returns to normal. The water is now clear, but the City of Abilene has to verify that the pH level is correct before the pool can reopen. They will be by tomorrow (Wednesday) to check it again, and we will reopen ASAP! Have a terrific Tuesday! :)

Pool Closing UPDATE

The treatment to clear the algae required that the pool be CLOSED for the remainder of the day today. There could be no movement in the pool while it was being treated, which meant the pump had to be off and, of course, no one could be in the pool. The pool is expected to be "crystal clear" and open again Tuesday morning at 10 AM!

The Abilene Swim Club is temporarily CLOSED - the algae level is too high (as it is in 70% of Abilene pools right now according to the expert consulted) and the shock treatments have made the chlorine level too high to swim right now. As soon as the chlorine levels are normal, hopefully around 5 or 6 PM, the pool will reopen. Frances suggests that you CALL BEFORE YOU COME, however, just to make sure they are open. The number at the ASC is 692-1395. Have a great afternoon!

The Low Dive is Now Open!

As of Friday the 13th :) the low dive is now open again! :)
